| This year the local arrangements committee decided to take advantage of the beautiful land and seascapes of the North Shore of Boston. As such, we were able to offer conference attendees the beautiful Sheraton Ferncroft Resort as the location for this year's conference. | Thursday, May 11, 2000 Salem and Marblehead Tour |

| Depart from the Sheraton Ferncroft Resort via deluxe motor coach. Your knowledgeable Hawthorne Tour Guide will provide narration as you travel through Danvers into Salem "the little city with the big history". You will learn of the days of Maritime Trade and the Witchcraft Hysteria of 1692. Also included is a visit to the House of Seven Gables one of the oldest surviving wooden mansions in New England (1668) and the inspiration for National Hawthorne's book. Late morning the tour continues to Marblehead, a city well known for its picturesque harbor filled with beautiful seascapes and sailboats and also Abbot Hall where you will find the famous painting "Spirit of 76". | |
