Monday, June 19, Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary

Overview: We’ll spend the entire afternoon exploring Australia’s iconic Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuaries located here on the Gold Coast. During our time at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, we will get up close with Australia’s feathered friends with the free-flight bird show, see what life is like in the Aussie outback with the Australiana sheep-shearing show, celebrate the rich local Aboriginal culture with an Aboriginal dance performance, and learn about the environmental tourism industry in a private question and answer session with one of the sanctuary’s local wildlife experts. We will also have time to walk around the sanctuary, feed and pet kangaroos, get our pictures taken with a koala, and at the end of the day spend time feeding our favorite local birds, the Lorikeets.

Tuesday, June 20, Gold Coast Hinterland Mt. Tamborine 4 Wheel Drive Tour

Overview: This tour allows guests to experience the Gold Coast Hinterland and Scenic Rim Region. In your luxury 4 wheel drive vehicle, you will drive along the original track built by early pioneers to transport their produce to the Gold Coast. The tour winds through eucalyptus trees to enter the magnificent rainforests of Tamborine Mountain National Park. While negotiating this seldom used track we will keep a look out for koala and other native wildlife. Our guides have lived in the area for over 24 years and have extensive local knowledge and expertise. They will share their favourite places with you as you learn about the Hinterland, its unique flora and fauna, and view waterfalls cascading into cool mountain streams. The tour includes a break for an afternoon tea of Delicious fresh scones, served with jams, cream, tea and coffee. You will also have a chance to explore the Gallery Walk which is best known as Tamborine mountain’s Arts and Crafts region. Mt. Tamborine is starting to build a reputation for its wineries so this tour would not be complete without a wine tasting at one of the local wineries. Reds, whites and ports will be available to sample before your relaxing sunset drive back to your hotel.

Optional Tour to Great Barrier Reef – June 22-26, 2017

Please see the attached pdf. for all of the details about this tour. The tour is 100% customizable per person/family to allow flexibility for people who would like to stay shorter/longer or travel to another location following the tour. The listed flights were picked for convenience (i.e., the smaller Gold Coast airport (Coolengatta – OOL) is only 25 minutes away from the Sofitel whereas the much larger Brisbane airport, with many more international connecting flight options, is closer to 90 minutes away from the hotel but would probably be better for most people to return to for their onward journey). The tour is priced in Australian dollars (AUD) and is subject to availability so the sooner you book, the better!
